Trundling on at my slow pace I caught up the pack on the next climb, then it was time to turn into the next pub. The warmth that hit us as we walked in the door was welcome; as was the Stollen cake.

From this pub we headed back into Edenbridge, where after a further pub we went for our evening meal. I won’t comment on the meal, in the same way that I won’t be returning there. One of the only low points of an otherwise excellent day out.

On leaving the pub we all carefully noted how slippery the roads were getting. Unfortunately, once back on the bikes, this knowledge didn’t stop my front wheel from sliding out from under me when I tried turning right to get back to the car. On getting home and removing my trousers, I found that my knee wasn’t too happy.

All in all, a most wonderful day out, so many thanks to Aeroflash for organising it!
